Quizzical

28 August 2003

Dan Cederholm starts a brilliantly simple concept of quiz questions to spark discussion and debate on semantics. He calls the first one a “doozy”. But with different questions and code snippets, one can imagine the issues might become complicated very quickly.

In discussion following the post, Sunny effectively sums the past couple days posts (1, 2, 3, 4) on standards and semantics in one simple sentence: “B is the semantically correct approach although A will be valid mark-up.” (Noted that C would also be valid using a Transitional DTD.) Other interesting perspectives already exist in the comments.

Here’s to hoping Dan continues the series, probing deeper into the issues with more complex questions. And that he somehow aggregates the questions and some of the resulting discussion into a thoughtful resource.
