Not WIN32 Compatible

18 August 2004

While using Safari to browse from one random Blogger blog to another yesterday, I encountered this rather humorous (to me) JavaScript alert message before loading someone’s customized blog template:

JavaScript: Sorry, your browser is not WIN32 Compatible

After grabbing a screenshot of the message, I dismissed the error and was allowed to view the horribly broken page of jumbled content. Upon seeing the page, it felt like the JavaScript message was more a confession of the site author’s incompetence rather than a warning about my browser’s state of compatibility.

Should you ever consider something similar, I would suggest a more favorable message:

JavaScript: Fortunately, your browser is not WIN32 Compatible. Lucky you.
